Safety #1 - Dropping Off and Picking Up @ Arcadia Elementary

Your help is needed.  The safety of our kids, parents, staff, and even yourself is most important.  This is especially true when you drop-off or pick-up your children at Arcadia Elementary.  

Over the past few days, we have noticed a number of drivers double parking, in some cases triple parking, in front of the elementary school when dropping-off or picking-up their children.  This creates some very dangerous situations, and ones that could be avoided.

Here is how you can help.  

• Stay in the drop-off lane (the lane closest to the curb on East River Street).  The best travel route is to follow Van Buren Street to Massuere Street to East River Street
• ALWAYS FOLLOW the flow of traffic and ONLY allow your child to exit or enter the passenger side of your vehicle once you have reached the sidewalk area in front of the school
• ALWAYS AVOID pulling up next to vehicles in the drop-off lane and never allow children to exit your vehicle and walk through moving traffic.  THIS IS DANGEROUS.
• During pick-up time at the end of the school day, once kids are dismissed parking on St. Joseph’s Avenue is prohibited.  Stay in the drop-off lane and follow the flow of traffic to pick-up your children.
• ALWAYS STAY in your vehicle and be patient.

Note: During dismissal, if you need to park your vehicle and then pick-up your child, park on Main Street and walk to the pick-up area.  Children are ONLY ALLOWED to cross a street WITH AN ADULT.

Seguridad #1 - Dejar y recoger en la Escuela Primaria de Arcadia

Necesitamos su ayuda.  La seguridad de nuestros niños, padres, personal, e incluso usted mismo es lo más importante.  Esto es especialmente cierto cuando deje ó recoge a sus hijos en la Primaria de Arcadia. 

En los últimos días, hemos notado que varios conductores se estacionan en doble fila, en algunos casos en triple fila, frente a la escuela primaria cuando dejan o recogen a sus hijos.  Esto crea algunas situaciones muy peligrosas, y que podrían ser evitadas.

Así es cómo puede ayudar.

• Permanezca en el carril para dejar a los niños (el carril más cercano a la acera en la calle East River).  La mejor ruta a seguir es la de la calle Van Buren a la calle Massuere a la calle East River
• SIEMPRE SIGA el flujo del tráfico y SÓLO permita que su hijo/a salga o entre por el lado del pasajero de su vehículo una vez que haya llegado al área de la acera frente a la escuela.
• EVITE SIEMPRE detenerse junto a los vehículos en el carril para dejar a los niños y nunca permita que los niños salgan de su vehículo y caminen entre el tráfico en movimiento.  ESTO ES PELIGROSO.
• Durante la hora de recoger a los niños al final del día escolar, una vez que los niños salgan, está prohibido estacionarse en la avenida St. Joseph's.  Permanezcan en el carril para dejar a los niños y sigan el flujo de tráfico para recogerlos.
• SIEMPRE QUÉDESE en su vehículo y sea paciente.

Nota: Durante la salida, si necesita estacionar su vehículo y luego recoger a su hijo/a, estaciónese en la calle Main y camine hasta el área donde se recogen los niños.  Los niños SÓLO PUEDEN cruzar una calle CON UN ADULTO.
